The imp is a powerful WiFi connected processor that's integrated with the imp Cloud, handling the complexity of providing secure, reliable and seamless connectivity. Additionally, the imp Services provide monitoring and allow you to easily update devices already in the field.

Easily customize your hardware and services with only a page or two of code. You build firmware to run within the imp, which deals with the interface to your product, and software (an "agent") that runs in the imp cloud, which deals with connecting and interfacing your device with almost any web service, server or smartphone app. The software can also be used to buffer data in the cloud, in many cases allowing fully-featured applications to be built without the need to run your own server backend.

With Electric Imp, you also give your users the simplest WiFi setup experience by incorporating BlinkUp into your app. BlinkUp is our patent-pending solution for setting up imps using nothing but the screen of their smartphone. Once an end-user enters their WiFi credentials they just need to hold their mobile device to the light sensor built into the device and within seconds the device is securely connected to the Internet and to your application.
